The Morning Show Season 4 Will Address ‘Deepfakes and AI’

The Morning Show showrunner and executive producer Charlotte Stoudt shared that the fourth season — which is still awaiting a release date — will see the newsroom address the threats of technologies, including deepfakes and artificial intelligence.

In a conversation with Deadline at the Contenders panel, Stoudt stated that Season 4 will contain elements that will serve as a weapon to spread misinformation.

“We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build. So, we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like?” Stoudt said. “We get into the world of DeepFakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can trust. And can you trust what you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?”

The third season concluded with UBA network anchors Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) and Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) trying to stop tech billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), who uses technology to spy on his colleagues, from acquiring the said network.

What is The Morning Show about?

Lauded for exploring the culture behind morning news programs, The Morning Show is a workplace drama loosely based on Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV by Brian Stelter. The Emmy-winning series — billed as “an apologetically candid drama” — follows the lives of news anchors and the rest of the crew of the fictional news program called The Morning Show by showcasing “the modern workplace through the lens of the people who help wake America up.”

Besides Aniston and Witherspoon, The Morning Show also stars Billy Crudup as Cory Ellison, Mark Duplass as Chip, Néstor Carbonell as Yanko Flores, Karen Pittman as Mia Jordan, Desean Terry as Daniel Henderson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Hannah Shoenfeld, Bel Powley as Claire Conway, and more.

The Morning Show is available to stream on Apple TV+.
