Netflix’s original series, Parasyte: The Grey, is garnering a lot of appreciation from the audience. The K-drama narrates the story of a girl named Jeong Su-In who somehow manages to co-exist with a parasite. The drama is set in a time when parasite-like creatures take over human brains, creating havoc. On the other hand, there’s a team called The Grey that works to eradicate these parasites.
Based on a manga series of the same name by Iwaaki Hitoshi, the lead actress of this K-drama is Jeon So-Nee. In a recent interview, she shared why she chose this project and how she prepared for the role.

Jeon So-Nee explained why she said yes to Parasyte: The Grey in an interview with Ten Asia. She said (originally in Korean), “I get greedy when I encounter a genre or character that I haven’t tried before. I’ve never acted like this before, and I was very curious about the image of me that director Yeon Sang-Ho would portray.”
Jeon So-Nee portrays Jeong Su-In in the K-drama Parasyte: The Grey. She gets infected by a parasite named Heidi. While talking about how she prepared for the role, she said, “Before I heard how Heidi would be embodied, I was worried about what kind of chemistry I could create with the voice actor who would play Heidi’s voice.” She further declared, “Heidi started eating Su-In’s head and then stopped, so I did the voice acting. When it was decided that I would do it, I was very afraid. I was worried about how I could separate the two, and I thought I had to make the human beast as good as possible.”
So-Nee added how she changed her vocal quality for Heidi. She shared, “I wanted it to be an uncomfortable voice. An overly friendly guidance tone, or a childlike tone that doesn’t know anything. I gave it with uncomfortable tones in mind, but when you look at it more broadly, I’m not the only one who appears as a parasite. The director asked me to keep my voice as low as possible. I got a lot of things like the rhythm of my speech from watching monitors of other parasites.”
