The xianxia C-drama The Legend of Shen Li has completed its run. The popular drama released its season finale on April 5, 2024. It features Lin Gengxin and Zhao Liying in the main roles. The final episode focuses on Shen Li (Zhao Liying) and Xing Zhi (Lin Gengxin) spending happy days in the mortal realm as a couple. One day, a visitor knocks at their door. Ms. Jin, the ancient serpent demon, sends a maid with an invitation to invite them to her wedding.
Shen Li is surprised to learn that Jin has decided to marry the mortal cultivator she fell in love with. The maid also reminds them to bring the star from the extra-natural heaven Xing Zhi promised Jin.
After the maid leaves, Shen Li gets worried as the extra-natural heaven doesn’t exist anymore; hence, there is no star. Xing Zhi comes up with a cunning plan to give her a random rock, as she will have nothing to compare it to. However, Shen Li does not agree with the plan.
Xing Zhi mentions that he has recovered a lot. The couple discusses how they find it hard to believe that Ms. Jin is getting married. They always thought of her as a woman who didn’t care about worldly pleasures. But Xing Zhi also asks Shen Li to look at it from a different perspective. It is not easy for someone to put aside their way of living and accept another person.

Shen Li and Xing Zhi visit Ms. Jin in the snowy mountains. Shen Li notices how sensitive Jin is to her future husband. She worries that Jin’s fiancé doesn’t care about her as she claims. Xing Zhi, on the other hand, congratulates Jin.
Jin tells them how she convinced Zichuan, her fiancé, to marry her. She saved his sect from dying and gradually developed feelings for him. But she also mentions that she is not sure if Zichuan also feels the same way about her. Shen Li comes up with a plan to find out his true intentions. She takes the form of Xing Zhi and decides to act clingy with Jin in front of Zichuan.
In episode 39 of The Legend of Shen Li, Zichuan showcases jealousy and even confronts Xing Zhi. As the final nail on the board, Xing Zhi and Shen Li pretend to murder Jin. Zichuan panics and mourns Jin’s death. He takes her out of the palace. Jin regains consciousness and assures him that she is fine. The two share a passionate embrace. Jin finally marries Zichuan. She tells Shen Li and Xing Zhi that the marriage is the best gift they could give her.
Meanwhile, Xing Zhi mentions to Shen Li that he wants to marry her. Previously, he found the idea vague, but now he wants to introduce his beloved Shen Li as his wife to everyone. He tells Shen Li that he will get a hundred thousand deities to bless their union. Shen Li accepts his proposal. She gives him the news that she is carrying his child. Xing Zhi is elated to hear the news. The show ends on a happy note.
