James Gunn Debunks Superman Budget Rumor

Superman director James Gunn has dispelled a rumor involving the budget of the upcoming DC Universe superhero movie.

On the social media platform Threads, the filmmaker responded to a fan that showed him a report about the DC Studios picture’s budget. According to the rumor, the budget for Superman was allegedly $364 million, prompting the fan to ask Gunn if this was true or false.

Gunn responded with a straightforward “absolutely not” alongside a laughing emoji, with the director wondering how anybody could think they knew the film’s budget.

“Absolutely not,” reads his reply. “How in the world do they think they know what our budget is?”

The titular role in Superman is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. They’re joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The superhero movie is set to release theatrically on July 11, 2025.
